Why don't you use a US cloud like AWS or Google Cloud?

The US CLOUD Act is real: US providers can be compelled by US authorities to hand over data — even when the servers are located in Europe. That is why our standard is a German provider: the server sits at Hetzner Online in Nuremberg. We still deal with it openly instead of promising independence: a US company is involved in the delivery, and every service provider is named in the privacy policy — covered by data processing agreements and EU standard contractual clauses.
