StackIT is the cloud platform of Schwarz Digits, the digital arm of the Schwarz Group, operating data centres in Germany and the EU. It is aimed at organisations that want cloud capability without storing their data outside European jurisdictions. As such, it answers the question of how scalability and digital sovereignty can go together.
How Conexa Digital uses it
When a project puts European data residency and independence from non-European providers front and centre, StackIT is one of the infrastructure options we consider at Conexa Digital. For every use case, we assess which cloud best matches the requirements and the data protection obligations. There is no blanket commitment to a single provider with us.

Why it matters to you
Many large cloud providers are subject to legal regimes that can permit access to data even outside the EU. A sovereign German cloud like StackIT keeps your data within the European legal sphere and thereby reduces legal uncertainty. For businesses that take data protection seriously, that is a tangible advantage over standard hyperscalers.
In practice
Suppose a business in the health or consulting field processes data whose storage location is to remain restricted to the EU, whether by contract or out of caution. Instead of hosting the application with a US hyperscaler, we set up the servers and database at StackIT. Little changes for the business — the application runs as usual, with the same response times and the same operation. The difference lies in the contract and the data centre location: the data does not leave the European legal area, which simplifies the documentation for data protection enquiries and data processing agreements. If a subject access request or an enquiry from the supervisory authority comes in, the storage location can be named clearly and without referring back to a foreign parent company.
When we do not use it
StackIT is the wrong choice when a project needs services that only exist at this depth with a large hyperscaler — say, very specialised machine-learning services or a globally distributed infrastructure with data centres on several continents. And when a client explicitly specifies a particular provider, for instance from an existing contractual relationship, we use that provider instead of prescribing StackIT. In such cases we fall back on other EU providers such as OVHcloud and Scaleway or, where it is technically imperative, on an international hyperscaler — then, however, with proper contractual safeguards.

StackIT is the cloud provider of the Schwarz Group and, by its own account, operates seven data centres in Europe.
The operating company is Schwarz Digits Cloud GmbH & Co. KG, based in Neckarsulm — a German company not subject to the US CLOUD Act. That is the practical core of the question »where does my data sit«: it is not only the server location that counts, but also which jurisdiction the operator is subject to.
