In practice
Suppose a business is planning a customer portal with several views — overview, bookings, invoices. Instead of designing directly in code, we first build the screen layout in Figma: which information goes where, how the views connect, which controls recur. The customer receives a link, sees the current state in real time and comments directly on the spot that bothers them — say, "this button should be at the top". Only once the layout is settled does the implementation in code begin. Change requests are thus resolved before the programming, not after it — which saves later rebuilds of code that is already finished.
When we do not use it
Figma is a design tool, not a website builder. When a project is small or an existing layout only needs adjusting, we often build directly in code — a separate design step would only create an additional layer of translation and cost time without getting the client anywhere. Figma is also the wrong tool for text polishing, SEO structure or technical topics such as load time — there we work with text editors and measurement tools directly on the website.
